The use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement officers has become increasingly prevalent in recent years as a tool to promote police accountability and transparency. This research project aims to investigate the impact of body-worn cameras on police accountability in reducing use of force incidents. The study will explore the effectiveness of BWCs in enhancing accountability among police officers, as well as their potential to mitigate the occurrence of use of force incidents during law enforcement encounters. The research will be guided by a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. A comprehensive literature review will be conducted to examine existing studies on the use of body-worn cameras by police officers and their impact on accountability and use of force incidents. The literature review will provide a theoretical framework for the study, highlighting key concepts and findings related to the research topic. The research methodology will involve the collection of primary data through surveys and interviews with police officers who are equipped with body-worn cameras, as well as with community members who have had interactions with officers wearing BWCs. The data collected will be analyzed to identify patterns and trends related to police accountability and the occurrence of use of force incidents in the presence of body-worn cameras.
