The maritime sector in Nigeria faces significant security challenges that have economic, social, and political implications. This research project aims to assess these challenges and identify potential solutions to enhance security in the Nigerian maritime domain. The study will examine the various security threats affecting the sector, including piracy, armed robbery at sea, illegal fishing, and smuggling. By analyzing the root causes of these security challenges, the research seeks to provide insights into the underlying factors contributing to maritime insecurity in Nigeria. The research will involve a comprehensive review of existing literature on maritime security in Nigeria, as well as an analysis of relevant data and reports from government agencies, international organizations, and academic institutions. By synthesizing information from multiple sources, the study aims to develop a nuanced understanding of the security dynamics in the Nigerian maritime domain.
