Abstract
This research project aims to investigate co-workers' attitudes towards ex-convicts in the workplace. The study will delve into the perceptions, biases, and behaviors exhibited by employees when working alongside individuals with prior criminal records. The research will explore the factors that influence co-workers' attitudes, such as past experiences, societal stereotypes, organizational policies, and personal beliefs. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The survey will assess co-workers' general attitudes towards ex-convicts, including their willingness to interact, collaborate, and trust individuals with criminal histories. Additionally, the survey will examine the impact of various demographic variables, such as age, gender, education, and job position, on co-workers' attitudes. In parallel, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of employees to gain deeper insights into the underlying reasons behind their attitudes towards ex-convicts. These interviews will provide a platform for participants to express their personal experiences, concerns, and perceptions regarding working with individuals who have been incarcerated. The findings of this research project are expected to offer valuable insights into the dynamics of workplace relationships involving ex-convicts. By understanding co-workers' attitudes and behaviors towards individuals with criminal records, organizations can develop targeted interventions and support systems to promote inclusivity, reduce stigma, and enhance workplace cohesion. Furthermore, the research outcomes may inform the development of training programs aimed at fostering a more supportive and accepting environment for ex-convicts reintegrating into the workforce.
