Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the aftercare service and reintegration of ex-convicts in Nigeria. The study will focus on examining the various aftercare programs and services available to individuals who have been released from prison in Nigeria and exploring the challenges they face during the reintegration process. The research will also seek to identify best practices in aftercare services for ex-convicts that can facilitate their successful reintegration into society. A mixed-methods approach will be utilized, including surveys and interviews with ex-convicts, policymakers, and representatives from organizations involved in providing aftercare services. The survey will gather data on the types of aftercare services currently available, their effectiveness, and the specific needs of ex-convicts during the reintegration process. Interviews will provide in-depth insights into the experiences and perspectives of ex-convicts and stakeholders in the aftercare and reintegration process. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on aftercare services and reintegration of ex-convicts in Nigeria. By identifying the challenges and best practices in aftercare services, this research can inform policymakers, organizations, and other stakeholders on how to improve and tailor aftercare programs to better meet the needs of ex-convicts. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance the effectiveness of aftercare services and support successful reintegration outcomes for ex-convicts in Nigeria. The results of this research will have practical implications for policymakers and organizations involved in the criminal justice system and reintegration efforts in Nigeria. By understanding the specific needs and challenges faced by ex-convicts in the reintegration process, stakeholders can develop targeted interventions and programs to support their successful transition back into society. This research can also raise awareness about the importance of aftercare services in reducing recidivism rates and promoting rehabilitation among ex-convicts.
