Cancer is a complex and devastating disease that continues to be a major health concern worldwide. Understanding the underlying mechanisms driving cancer development and progression is crucial for the development of effective diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as key players in cancer biology, exerting regulatory roles in various cellular processes. This thesis investigates the role of miRNAs in cancer development and progression from a biochemical perspective. The introduction provides a background to cancer and miRNA biology, highlighting the importance of studying miRNAs in cancer research.
