Thesis Abstract

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that play crucial roles in regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Dysregulation of miRNAs has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of specific miRNAs in regulating gene expression in cancer cells. The study was conducted using a combination of bioinformatics analysis, cell culture experiments, and molecular biology techniques. We identified a panel of miRNAs that are differentially expressed in cancer cells compared to normal cells. Through target prediction algorithms and functional assays, we characterized the target genes regulated by these miRNAs and elucidated their roles in cancer progression. Our findings revealed that specific miRNAs can modulate the expression of key genes involved in cancer pathways, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis. By manipulating the expression levels of these miRNAs in cancer cells, we were able to observe significant changes in gene expression profiles and cellular phenotypes. Furthermore, we investigated the underlying molecular mechanisms by which these miRNAs exert their regulatory effects on gene expression. Through a series of experiments, we identified novel signaling pathways and regulatory networks that are modulated by these miRNAs in cancer cells. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the regulatory roles of specific miRNAs in cancer cells and sheds light on their potential as therapeutic targets for cancer treatment. The findings from this study contribute to the understanding of the complex interplay between miRNAs and gene expression in cancer, with implications for the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for cancer patients.
