Abstract
Cellular aging is a complex process influenced by various factors, including oxidative stress and the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Antioxidants are known to play a crucial role in combating oxidative stress and protecting cells from damage. This thesis aimed to explore the effects of different antioxidants on cellular aging. The study began with a comprehensive review of the literature on cellular aging, oxidative stress, and the role of antioxidants in mitigating cellular damage. Various antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and polyphenols, were identified and their mechanisms of action in combating oxidative stress were discussed. In the research methodology chapter, the experimental design and methods used to evaluate the effects of antioxidants on cellular aging were outlined. Cell culture techniques, ROS measurement assays, and molecular biology techniques were employed to assess the impact of antioxidants on cellular senescence and oxidative damage. The results of the study revealed that different antioxidants exhibited varying degrees of efficacy in protecting cells from oxidative stress-induced damage.
