Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the efficacy of probiotics in treating gastrointestinal disorders in dogs. Gastrointestinal disorders are common in dogs and can lead to various health issues if left untreated. Probiotics are live microorganisms that are believed to provide health benefits when consumed in adequate amounts. The use of probiotics in veterinary medicine has gained popularity in recent years, with many pet owners seeking alternative and natural treatments for their furry companions. The research will begin with a comprehensive review of the existing literature on probiotics and their potential benefits for gastrointestinal health in dogs. This review will highlight the mechanisms of action of probiotics, their effectiveness in treating gastrointestinal disorders, and any potential side effects or limitations associated with their use. The literature review will also explore different strains of probiotics and their specific effects on the canine digestive system. Following the literature review, the research methodology will be outlined, detailing the design of the study, sample size, selection criteria for dogs participating in the study, and the administration protocol for the probiotics. The study will be conducted using a randomized controlled trial design to assess the impact of probiotics on dogs with gastrointestinal disorders. Various parameters will be measured, including stool consistency, frequency of bowel movements, and overall gastrointestinal health. The findings from the study will be discussed in detail in Chapter Four, where the results of the probiotic intervention will be analyzed and compared to a control group. The discussion will also explore any significant differences observed in the health outcomes of the dogs receiving probiotics compared to those not receiving the treatment.
