This research project focuses on investigating the effects of probiotics on the gut microbiota of dogs with chronic gastrointestinal disorders. Chronic gastrointestinal disorders in dogs are a common health issue that can significantly impact their overall well-being and quality of life. Probiotics, known for their beneficial effects on gut health in humans and animals, have shown promise in alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms and restoring gut microbiota balance. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of probiotics on the gut microbiota composition of dogs with chronic gastrointestinal disorders. A comprehensive literature review will be conducted to explore the existing knowledge on probiotics, gut microbiota, and their potential therapeutic benefits in managing gastrointestinal disorders in dogs. The review will encompass various aspects such as the mechanisms of action of probiotics, the role of gut microbiota in gastrointestinal health, and previous studies investigating probiotic interventions in dogs. The research methodology will involve recruiting a cohort of dogs diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal disorders and administering a specific probiotic supplement over a defined period.
