Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease in dogs, causing pain and reduced mobility. Effective pain management is crucial in improving the quality of life for affected animals. This research project aims to evaluate the efficacy of novel pain management strategies in canine osteoarthritis. The study will involve a comprehensive literature review to identify the current landscape of pain management options for OA in dogs. Furthermore, a detailed methodology will be outlined, including the selection criteria for the novel interventions to be assessed, the study design, and the outcome measures to evaluate their efficacy. Chapter One will provide an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, the problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of terms. Chapter Two will consist of a literature review encompassing ten key areas related to pain management strategies in canine osteoarthritis. This section will explore existing treatments, their limitations, and gaps in current knowledge, providing a foundation for the research.
