Transit-oriented development (TOD) has gained significant attention as a sustainable urban development strategy that promotes compact, mixed-use communities centered around public transportation hubs. This research project aims to explore the impact of TOD on sustainable urban growth by examining various facets such as land use patterns, transportation modes, economic development, and environmental sustainability. The study will investigate how TOD influences urban growth patterns, infrastructure investments, social equity, and environmental quality in urban areas. The research will begin with a comprehensive literature review to understand the theoretical underpinnings and empirical evidence related to TOD and sustainable urban growth. By synthesizing existing knowledge, the study will identify key factors that contribute to successful TOD implementation and its potential benefits for urban sustainability. Methodologically, a mixed-methods approach will be employed, including quantitative analysis of urban indicators and qualitative interviews with urban planners, developers, residents, and other stakeholders involved in TOD projects. The research will focus on case studies of cities that have implemented TOD initiatives to assess the outcomes and challenges faced in achieving sustainable urban growth objectives.
