Gentrification is a complex phenomenon that has garnered significant attention in urban and regional planning due to its profound impact on neighborhood social dynamics. This research project aims to assess the impact of gentrification on neighborhood social dynamics in urban areas, focusing on understanding the underlying processes and implications for community cohesion, social networks, and resident well-being. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study examines the various dimensions of gentrification and its effects on neighborhoods, with a particular emphasis on social dynamics. The research methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to capture the multifaceted nature of gentrification and its consequences. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review that synthesizes existing research on gentrification, neighborhood social dynamics, and related concepts, providing a theoretical foundation for the study. The literature review comprises ten key themes that highlight the complexities and nuances of gentrification processes and their social impacts. Chapter Three describes the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling strategies, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations. The methodology section includes eight components that outline the systematic approach used to investigate the impact of gentrification on neighborhood social dynamics. Chapter Four presents the findings of the research, analyzing the data collected from surveys and interviews to explore the effects of gentrification on social networks, community cohesion, and resident well-being. This chapter comprises seven sections that provide an in-depth discussion of the research results, highlighting the diverse experiences and perspectives of residents living in gentrifying neighborhoods. In Chapter Five, the conclusion and summary of the research project are presented, synthesizing the key findings, implications, and recommendations for urban and regional planning practice. The research contributes to a better understanding of how gentrification shapes neighborhood social dynamics and offers insights into potential strategies to support inclusive and sustainable urban development.
