Project Abstract

This project aims to explore innovative and holistic approaches to urban development that can address the challenges posed by rapid urbanization in developing countries. As cities around the world continue to grow at an unprecedented rate, the need for sustainable and resilient urban planning has become increasingly pressing. This project will investigate the various social, economic, and environmental factors that contribute to the challenges of urban development, with a particular focus on rapidly urbanizing cities in the Global South. The overarching goal of this project is to identify and develop sustainable urban development strategies that can be effectively implemented in rapidly growing cities. By analyzing case studies from diverse urban contexts, the project will provide a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in these settings. This knowledge will then be used to inform the design and implementation of innovative, context-specific solutions that address the complex interplay of issues, such as housing, infrastructure, resource management, and social equity. One of the key components of this project is the exploration of participatory and inclusive approaches to urban planning.
