Abstract
This research study aims to investigate and analyze the various factors that influence student performance in higher education institutions. Student performance is a critical indicator of success and is influenced by a multitude of factors, including academic, social, and personal aspects. Understanding these factors is crucial for educators, administrators, and policymakers to enhance student success and improve educational outcomes. The research will be conducted through a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Data will be collected from a diverse sample of students enrolled in higher education institutions, focusing on undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The study will explore the impact of factors such as academic motivation, study habits, time management, peer influence, family support, and institutional resources on student performance. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, background information, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, structure of the research, and key definitions of terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, covering ten key factors influencing student performance in higher education. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the study. The chapter also highlights the reliability and validity of the research findings. In Chapter Four, the discussion of findings will present a detailed analysis of the data collected, identifying the factors that significantly impact student performance. The chapter will also explore the relationships between different variables and provide insights into how these factors interact to influence student outcomes. Finally, Chapter Five presents the conclusion and summary of the research findings. The study aims to provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and higher education institutions to develop targeted interventions and support systems that can enhance student performance and promote academic success in higher education. In conclusion, this research study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on factors influencing student performance in higher education.
