Social media has become an integral part of daily life for college students, offering a platform for communication, networking, and information sharing. However, concerns have been raised about the potential negative impact of excessive social media usage on mental health. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social media usage and mental health among college students using statistical methods. The research begins with a comprehensive review of existing literature on the subject, examining studies that have explored the psychological effects of social media on individuals. The literature review highlights the various ways in which social media can influence mental health, including feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. A mixed-method approach will be adopted for this study, combining quantitative surveys and statistical analysis to gather data on social media usage patterns and mental health indicators among college students. A sample of college students will be selected to participate in the study, and data will be collected through surveys designed to assess social media usage habits, mental health symptoms, and overall well-being. The research methodology section outlines the steps taken to collect and analyze data, including the development of survey instruments, participant recruitment, data collection procedures, and statistical techniques used for analysis. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis will be employed to examine the relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes. The findings of the study will be presented in the discussion section, highlighting key trends and patterns identified through statistical analysis.
