The performance of students in higher education institutions is influenced by a myriad of factors that encompass academic, personal, and environmental aspects. This research aims to analyze the various factors that impact student performance in higher education and provide insights into how these factors can be managed to enhance academic success. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of academic records and surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on student experiences and perceptions. Chapter One introduces the research topic, providing background information on the factors influencing student performance in higher education. The problem statement identifies the gap in existing literature and highlights the significance of understanding these factors. The objectives of the study are outlined to guide the research process, while the limitations and scope of the study are defined to delineate the boundaries of the research. The chapter concludes with the structure of the research and definitions of key terms used throughout the study. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on the factors influencing student performance in higher education. Ten key themes emerge from the literature, including academic preparedness, motivation, learning environment, socio-economic status, and support systems.
