This research project explores the impact of social media on youth identity formation through a case study approach. The pervasive influence of social media on young individuals has become a subject of increasing concern as it shapes how they perceive themselves and interact with the world around them. This study aims to investigate the complexities of this phenomenon by examining the experiences and perspectives of youth in relation to their use of social media platforms. Chapter one provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and key definitions of terms. The chapter sets the foundation for understanding the broader context in which social media impacts youth identity formation.
