Abstract
Information technology (IT) has become an integral part of modern organizations, transforming the way businesses operate and manage their supply functions. This research project aims to investigate the impact of information technology on the supply function of Nigeria Breweries Enugu. The study will explore how the implementation of IT systems has influenced the efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance of the supply chain within the organization. The methodology for this research will involve a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data will be collected through surveys, interviews, and a review of relevant literature on IT and supply chain management. Concept of Information Technology Information technology, as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) is “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software application and computer hardware. Information Technology deals with the use of electronic computer and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve information. According to King (2005), information technology refers to the management and use of information using computer-based tools, it includes acquiring, processing, storing and distribution of information. Most commonly used it is a term used refer to business applications of computer technology, rather than scientific application. The term is used broadly in business to refer to anything that ties to the use of computers. Information technology involves the development, maintenance and use of computer system, software, hardware and networks for the processing and distribution of data. Information technology is the development; implementation and maintenance of computer hardware and software system organize and communicate electronically (King, 2005).
