Trade unions play a significant role in shaping the relationship between workers and organizations. This research project aims to explore the impact of trade unions on workers' commitment and organizational productivity. The study will focus on examining how trade unions influence various aspects of workers' commitment, such as job satisfaction, organizational loyalty, and engagement. Additionally, the research will investigate the effects of trade unions on organizational productivity by analyzing factors like employee motivation, job performance, and overall efficiency. A mixed-methods approach will be employed to collect and analyze data for this research. Quantitative surveys will be used to gather information on workers' perception of trade unions, their level of commitment, and the perceived impact on organizational productivity. Qualitative interviews will provide deeper insights into the mechanisms through which trade unions affect workers' commitment and organizational outcomes. The research will involve both unionized and non-unionized organizations to compare the differences in workers' commitment and productivity based on the presence of trade unions. The theoretical framework for this study will draw upon theories of social exchange, organizational behavior, and labor relations. By integrating these theoretical perspectives, the research aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions between trade unions, workers' commitment, and organizational productivity. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on trade unions and their effects on workplace dynamics. The implications of this research are twofold. Firstly, it will provide valuable insights for organizations and trade unions to enhance their practices and policies concerning workers' commitment and productivity. Understanding the mechanisms through which trade unions influence these outcomes can help both parties create more conducive work environments that benefit employees and the organization as a whole. Secondly, the study will offer theoretical contributions by advancing our knowledge of the role of trade unions in contemporary workplaces and shedding light on the dynamics of employee-employer relationships. Overall, this research project seeks to uncover the nuanced ways in which trade unions shape workers' commitment and organizational productivity. By exploring these relationships, the study aims to offer practical recommendations and theoretical insights that can inform future research and practice in the field of labor relations and organizational behavior.

Project Overview

In Nigeria, and to the world at large. It is considered that the labour forces (workers) are the most important instrumental asset in which business organizations, institutions such as colleges, universities etc use in achieving success and growth of any establishment which prompt the focus of this study. The impact of trade union on workers commitment in which Nigerian union of teachers (NUT) was taken as a case study. Two major hypothesis were formulated. The method of data collection was both the primary and secondary data. While the chi-square method was used for data analysis. The findings revealed that trade unions involvement has impact on workers commitment. It is the major reason for the formation of trade union which is formed to improve the working conditions of its members to work. The researcher also recommended that for impact of trade union on workers commitment to be effective, the trade union and those authorities responsible for the welfare of these workers should come together in reviewing those issues affecting workers commitment, such as life after retirement which is the most important issue considered by the workers.
