Urban areas, being hubs of economic activity and population concentration, play a crucial role in achieving sustainability goals. This research aims to critically examine the effectiveness of government policies in promoting sustainable development in urban areas, with a focus on key factors such as environmental conservation, social inclusivity, and economic prosperity. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive literature review to provide a theoretical framework for understanding sustainable development and the role of government policies in urban areas. Through a qualitative approach, data will be collected from relevant government documents, policy reports, and scholarly articles to analyze the current landscape of sustainable development initiatives in urban areas. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, background information, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two comprises a detailed literature review covering ten key aspects related to sustainable development, government policies, and urban sustainability. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. In Chapter Four, the discussion of findings will present the analysis of government policies in promoting sustainable development in urban areas. This chapter will highlight key findings, trends, challenges, and opportunities identified through the research process.
