Project Abstract

Abstract
This research study investigates the impact of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on anxiety levels among college students. Anxiety is a prevalent mental health concern among college students, with potential negative effects on academic performance, overall well-being, and future success. The application of mindfulness techniques has gained attention as a promising intervention to help individuals manage stress and anxiety. This study aims to contribute to the existing literature by examining the effectiveness of MBSR in reducing anxiety levels specifically in the college student population. The research design involves a quantitative approach, utilizing a pre-test/post-test control group design to assess the changes in anxiety levels among college students who participate in an MBSR program compared to a control group. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the MBSR intervention group or the control group. The intervention group will undergo an 8-week MBSR program that includes mindfulness meditation, body scan exercises, and gentle yoga practices. The control group will not receive any intervention during the study period. Data will be collected using standardized anxiety assessment tools before the intervention, immediately after the 8-week MBSR program, and at a follow-up assessment. Statistical analyses, including t-tests and ANOVA, will be conducted to compare anxiety levels between the intervention and control groups at different time points. The expected outcomes of this study include a significant reduction in anxiety levels among college students who participate in the MBSR program compared to the control group. The findings will contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in reducing anxiety and improving mental well-being among college students.
