Abstract
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques play a crucial role in maximizing hydrocarbon production from mature oil fields. This research aims to investigate and evaluate various EOR methods that can potentially enhance oil recovery in mature oil fields. The study focuses on understanding the background of EOR, identifying the challenges faced in mature oil fields, setting clear objectives, defining the limitations and scope of the study, emphasizing the significance of the research, and outlining the structure of the research. Chapter two of this research provides an in-depth literature review covering ten key aspects related to EOR techniques in mature oil fields. Various existing EOR methods such as thermal, chemical, and miscible gas injection are discussed, along with their advantages, limitations, and successful case studies. The literature review also explores the impact of reservoir characteristics, fluid properties, and operational considerations on the effectiveness of EOR methods in mature oil fields. Chapter three outlines the research methodology, detailing the approach, data collection methods, experimental design, simulation techniques, and analytical tools used to study EOR techniques for mature oil fields. The chapter also discusses the importance of reservoir characterization, well placement optimization, fluid analysis, and economic evaluation in implementing EOR projects effectively. In chapter four, the research findings from implementing various EOR techniques in mature oil fields are extensively discussed. The chapter presents a detailed analysis of the results obtained through simulations, field trials, and case studies, highlighting the performance, challenges, and potential improvements of EOR methods in enhancing oil recovery from mature reservoirs.
