Children with chronic illnesses face unique challenges that often extend beyond just physical health concerns. It is crucial to assess their mental health needs to ensure comprehensive care and support. This research project aims to investigate the mental health needs of children with chronic illnesses, with a focus on understanding the prevalence, risk factors, and impact of mental health issues in this population. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and psychological assessments, to gather data from a sample of children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers. Chapter One will provide an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two will present a comprehensive literature review covering ten key areas related to mental health needs in children with chronic illnesses, including prevalence rates, risk factors, protective factors, interventions, and outcomes. Chapter Three will detail the research methodology, including the research design, sampling methods, data collection procedures, data analysis techniques, ethical considerations, and limitations of the study. The chapter will also discuss the reliability and validity of the research instruments used to assess mental health needs in children with chronic illnesses. Chapter Four will present the findings of the research, including a detailed analysis of the data collected from children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers. The chapter will explore the prevalence of mental health issues in this population, identify common risk factors, and discuss the impact of mental health needs on the overall well-being of children with chronic illnesses.
