Abstract
Childhood vaccination is crucial for the prevention of infectious diseases and the promotion of public health. However, despite the proven efficacy of vaccines, vaccination rates among children remain suboptimal in many communities. This research project aims to investigate the effectiveness of parental education and reminder systems in improving childhood vaccination rates. The study will focus on understanding the factors influencing parental decision-making regarding vaccination and explore how educational interventions and reminder systems can positively impact vaccination behaviors. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. A survey questionnaire will be administered to parents to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to childhood vaccination. In-depth interviews with a subset of parents will provide a more nuanced understanding of their experiences and perceptions regarding vaccination. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, background information on childhood vaccination, the problem statement, objectives of the study, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key themes related to childhood vaccination, parental education, reminder systems, and vaccination behavior. In Chapter 3, the research methodology is described in detail, including the study design, sampling strategy, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research methodology. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the study, including a detailed analysis of the survey data and themes identified through the qualitative interviews. The discussion in Chapter 4 explores the implications of the findings for improving childhood vaccination rates and highlights the potential benefits of parental education and reminder systems. Recommendations for future research and practical interventions to enhance vaccination uptake are also provided. Chapter 5 concludes the research project by summarizing the key findings, implications, and contributions to the field of paediatrics. Overall, this research project aims to contribute to the body of knowledge on strategies to improve childhood vaccination rates and promote public health. By investigating the impact of parental education and reminder systems, the study seeks to identify effective interventions that can help increase vaccination coverage and protect children from preventable diseases.
