Abstract
Introduction Telehealth is a rapidly evolving field that has the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery, particularly in chronic disease management among older adults. As the population ages and the burden of chronic diseases continues to increase, the use of telehealth technologies in nursing practice becomes increasingly important. This research aims to explore the impact of telehealth on chronic disease management in older adults from a nursing perspective. Methodology A comprehensive literature review was conducted to examine existing research on telehealth interventions for chronic disease management in older adults. The review focused on studies that evaluated the effectiveness of telehealth technologies in improving health outcomes, enhancing patient satisfaction, and reducing healthcare costs in this population. The research methodology also included a qualitative analysis of nursing perspectives on the use of telehealth in chronic disease management. Results The literature review revealed a growing body of evidence supporting the benefits of telehealth in chronic disease management among older adults. Telehealth interventions were found to improve access to care, facilitate self-management of chronic conditions, and enhance communication between patients and healthcare providers. Nurses play a crucial role in the successful implementation of telehealth programs, providing education, support, and monitoring to older adults using these technologies. Discussion The findings highlight the importance of integrating telehealth into nursing practice to improve the quality and efficiency of chronic disease management in older adults. By leveraging telehealth technologies, nurses can empower older patients to take an active role in their healthcare, leading to better health outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. However, challenges such as digital literacy, technological barriers, and privacy concerns must be addressed to ensure the successful adoption of telehealth in this population. Conclusion This research underscores the significant impact of telehealth on chronic disease management in older adults from a nursing perspective. By harnessing the potential of telehealth technologies, nurses can enhance the delivery of care, promote patient engagement, and optimize health outcomes for older adults with chronic conditions. Future research should focus on addressing barriers to telehealth adoption and further exploring the role of nurses in maximizing the benefits of telehealth in geriatric care.
