Abstract
Telemedicine has emerged as a promising solution to improve healthcare delivery, especially in long-term care facilities. This systematic review aims to investigate the impact of telemedicine on patient outcomes in long-term care settings. Through a comprehensive search of relevant literature, this study synthesizes existing evidence to provide insights into the effectiveness of telemedicine interventions in improving patient outcomes. The introduction section provides a background to the use of telemedicine in healthcare, highlighting its potential benefits in enhancing access to care, reducing healthcare costs, and improving patient outcomes. The problem statement underscores the need to evaluate the effectiveness of telemedicine in long-term care facilities to optimize patient care delivery. The objectives of the study are to assess the impact of telemedicine on patient outcomes, identify the limitations of current research, define the scope of the study, and highlight its significance in the healthcare landscape. The literature review section critically examines existing studies on telemedicine in long-term care, focusing on ten key themes such as patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and provider perspectives. The research methodology section outlines the systematic approach employed in selecting and analyzing relevant studies, including search criteria, data extraction methods, and quality assessment. The discussion of findings section presents a detailed analysis of the impact of telemedicine on patient outcomes, drawing insights from the reviewed literature. Key findings include the positive effects of telemedicine on reducing hospital readmissions, improving access to specialist care, and enhancing patient satisfaction. Challenges and limitations in implementing telemedicine interventions are also discussed, shedding light on areas for future research and improvement. In conclusion, this systematic review highlights the potential of telemedicine to positively impact patient outcomes in long-term care facilities. By leveraging technology to overcome geographical barriers and improve care coordination, telemedicine offers new opportunities to enhance the quality of care for patients in long-term care settings. The study underscores the need for further research to address gaps in knowledge and optimize the integration of telemedicine into routine care delivery.
