Abstract
Telehealth has emerged as a valuable tool in healthcare delivery, offering the potential to improve patient outcomes and enhance access to care. This systematic review aims to investigate the impact of telehealth on patient outcomes in post-operative care. The review will focus on assessing the effectiveness of telehealth interventions in improving recovery, reducing complications, enhancing patient satisfaction, and optimizing healthcare resource utilization following surgical procedures. The methodology will involve a comprehensive search of electronic databases, including PubMed, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library, to identify relevant studies published between 2010 and 2021. Studies will be selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data extraction will be performed using a standardized form. Quality assessment will be conducted using appropriate tools to evaluate the risk of bias and ensure the reliability of the included studies. The literature review will explore ten key themes related to telehealth interventions in post-operative care, including remote monitoring, virtual consultations, patient education, medication management, and tele-rehabilitation. The analysis will synthesize findings from diverse study designs, such as randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and systematic reviews, to provide a comprehensive overview of the current evidence base. The research findings will be discussed in detail, highlighting the impact of telehealth on patient outcomes across various surgical specialties and care settings. The discussion will address the strengths and limitations of the included studies, identify gaps in the existing literature, and suggest areas for future research. In conclusion, this systematic review will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the effectiveness of telehealth in post-operative care. The findings will inform healthcare providers, policymakers, and researchers about the potential benefits of incorporating telehealth technologies into routine clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall quality of care in the post-operative period.
