Project Abstract

Abstract
The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance among pathogenic bacteria has become a significant global health concern, necessitating the exploration of alternative antimicrobial agents. Plant extracts have been recognized for their potential antibacterial properties due to the presence of bioactive compounds. This research project aims to investigate the antibacterial properties of various plant extracts against pathogenic bacteria and evaluate their potential as alternative antimicrobial agents. The study will commence with a comprehensive review of the existing literature on plant extracts with antibacterial properties and their mechanisms of action. Various plant species known for their antimicrobial activities will be identified and selected for the experimental phase of the study. The plant extracts will be obtained through extraction methods such as maceration, Soxhlet extraction, or steam distillation, followed by phytochemical analysis to identify the bioactive compounds present. The antibacterial efficacy of the plant extracts will be assessed through agar well diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assays against a panel of pathogenic bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and others.
