Abstract
The emergence of antibiotic resistance among pathogenic bacteria poses a significant threat to public health worldwide. In this context, the utilization of natural plant extracts as alternative antimicrobial agents has gained attention due to their potential antibacterial properties. This research project aims to investigate the antibacterial properties of selected natural plant extracts against pathogenic bacteria. The study will explore the effectiveness of these plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of various pathogenic bacteria through in vitro experiments and analysis. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of terms. The literature review in Chapter 2 comprises ten key items that discuss existing knowledge on the antibacterial properties of natural plant extracts and their mechanisms of action against pathogenic bacteria. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, including the selection and preparation of plant extracts, bacterial strains, experimental procedures, data collection methods, and statistical analysis. The methodology will involve testing the antibacterial activity of plant extracts using standard microbiological techniques to determine their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) against pathogenic bacteria. In Chapter 4, the discussion of findings will present a detailed analysis of the results obtained from the experiments, highlighting the effectiveness of the natural plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The discussion will also explore the potential implications of these findings in the development of novel antibacterial agents and strategies to combat antibiotic resistance. Chapter 5 concludes the research project by summarizing the key findings, implications, limitations, and recommendations for future research. The study aims to contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the antibacterial properties of natural plant extracts and their potential applications in combating pathogenic bacteria. Overall, this research project seeks to provide valuable insights into the development of alternative antimicrobial agents from natural sources to address the global challenge of antibiotic resistance.
