Project Abstract

Abstract
Stroke survivors often experience challenges in regaining upper limb function during the rehabilitation process. Virtual reality (VR) technology has emerged as a promising tool for enhancing motor recovery in stroke survivors. This research project focuses on the development and evaluation of a VR system specifically designed for upper limb rehabilitation in stroke survivors. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the developed VR system in improving upper limb function, range of motion, and overall motor recovery in stroke survivors. The research will be conducted through a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative assessments of motor function and qualitative feedback from participants and healthcare professionals. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review on the use of VR technology in stroke rehabilitation, highlighting its benefits, challenges, and current trends in the field. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, including the study design, participants, intervention protocol, outcome measures, data collection procedures, and data analysis plan. The methodology will incorporate both pre-test and post-test assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the VR system in improving upper limb function in stroke survivors. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the study, including quantitative results from motor assessments and qualitative feedback from participants and healthcare professionals. The discussion will explore the implications of the findings, limitations of the study, and recommendations for future research and clinical practice. Chapter 5 provides a conclusion and summary of the project research, highlighting the key findings, implications for stroke rehabilitation practice, and potential future directions for the development and implementation of VR systems in upper limb rehabilitation. Overall, this research project aims to contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the use of VR technology for upper limb rehabilitation in stroke survivors. By developing and evaluating a tailored VR system, this study seeks to enhance the rehabilitation outcomes and quality of life for individuals recovering from stroke-induced upper limb impairments.
