This research project investigates the influence of social media on language evolution, specifically focusing on English language changes in online discourse. The rapid growth and widespread use of social media platforms have significantly impacted the way language is used, communicated, and evolved in the digital era. This study aims to explore the various factors contributing to language changes in online discourse and analyze the implications of these changes on the English language. The research is structured into five main chapters. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, discussing the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, analyzing ten key studies that have explored the relationship between social media and language evolution. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and the theoretical framework used in the study. This chapter aims to provide a clear understanding of the research process and methodology employed to investigate the research questions. In Chapter Four, the findings of the study are discussed in detail, highlighting the key language changes observed in online discourse as influenced by social media usage. The chapter explores seven key themes emerging from the data analysis, providing insights into the evolving nature of the English language in the digital age.
