This study aims to explore and analyze the difficulties encountered by special libraries in Nigeria in providing adequate library materials and services to their users. The research methodology involves a combination of literature review, surveys, and interviews with professionals in the field of library science. The findings of this study reveal several key challenges faced by special libraries in Nigeria. These challenges include limited budgets for acquisitions, inadequate infrastructure, lack of specialized personnel, and difficulties in accessing relevant and up-to-date materials. Additionally, the study highlights issues related to the selection, acquisition, and processing of library materials, as well as challenges in meeting the diverse information needs of users in specialized fields. The study also identifies potential solutions to address these challenges, such as increasing funding for library acquisitions, improving infrastructure and technology, enhancing the skills of library staff, and promoting collaboration and resource sharing among special libraries.
