Digital preservation of cultural heritage materials in libraries is a critical aspect of ensuring long-term access to valuable information and resources. As libraries increasingly digitize their collections to facilitate wider access and preservation, the need for effective strategies to safeguard these digital assets becomes paramount. This research project aims to investigate and propose digital preservation strategies that can ensure the longevity and accessibility of cultural heritage materials in libraries. The study begins with an exploration of the background of digital preservation in libraries, highlighting the challenges and opportunities presented by the digitization of cultural heritage materials. The problem statement underscores the importance of addressing issues such as format obsolescence, technological dependencies, and sustainability in digital preservation efforts. The objectives of the study are to identify best practices in digital preservation, assess the limitations and scope of current strategies, and propose innovative approaches to enhance long-term access to cultural heritage materials. A comprehensive literature review examines ten key themes related to digital preservation in libraries, including preservation standards, metadata practices, digital lifecycle management, and risk assessment strategies. The research methodology section outlines the approach taken to gather and analyze data, including qualitative and quantitative research methods, case studies, and expert interviews. The methodology also addresses ethical considerations in conducting research on cultural heritage materials.
