This research project investigates the impact of information literacy instruction on student research skills within the context of academic libraries. Information literacy is a crucial skill set that enables individuals to effectively locate, evaluate, and utilize information from various sources. In the academic setting, the development of information literacy skills is essential for students to succeed in their coursework and future careers. This study aims to explore how information literacy instruction provided in academic libraries influences student research skills and overall academic performance. The introduction section provides an overview of the research topic, highlighting the importance of information literacy in higher education and the role of academic libraries in promoting these skills. The background of the study outlines the current state of information literacy instruction in academic libraries and identifies the gaps in existing research. The problem statement articulates the specific issue addressed in this study, focusing on the need to assess the effectiveness of information literacy programs in improving student research skills. The objectives of the study are to evaluate the impact of information literacy instruction on student research skills, identify best practices in information literacy programs, and recommend strategies for enhancing these programs. Eight components are discussed, such as the selection of research participants, the development of survey instruments, and the procedures for data analysis. The findings chapter presents a detailed analysis of the data collected, highlighting the impact of information literacy instruction on student research skills. Seven key findings are discussed, including the effectiveness of different instructional approaches, the challenges faced by students in information literacy programs, and the recommendations for improving these programs.
