This research project delves into a comprehensive legal and jurisprudential analysis of homosexuality and same-sex marriages, with a focus on supporting the Nigerian position on these contentious issues. The study examines the historical, cultural, religious, and legal perspectives surrounding homosexuality and same-sex marriages, providing a nuanced understanding of the complexities involved. The research explores the Nigerian legal framework concerning homosexuality, highlighting the Criminal Code and the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, which both criminalize same-sex relationships and marriages in the country. Furthermore, the project investigates the jurisprudential justifications for the Nigerian stance on homosexuality and same-sex marriages, considering factors such as societal values, moral beliefs, public policy considerations, and human rights implications. By analyzing relevant case law, legal principles, and international legal instruments, the research elucidates the legal reasoning behind Nigeria's position, emphasizing the need to preserve traditional values and protect societal norms.
