Ensuring food security in rural areas is crucial for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. This research project focuses on assessing the factors influencing household food security in rural areas to provide insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The research is guided by the conceptual framework of food security, incorporating dimensions such as availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability. Chapter 1 introduces the research, providing background information on the importance of food security in rural areas. The problem statement highlights the challenges faced by rural households in accessing an adequate and nutritious diet. The objectives of the study aim to identify key factors affecting food security, while limitations and scope clarify the boundaries of the research. The significance of the study lies in its potential to inform interventions that enhance food security outcomes. This chapter also outlines the structure of the research and defines key terms for clarity. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review, analyzing existing studies on household food security in rural areas.
