Project Abstract

This project aims to investigate and develop sustainable livelihood strategies for rural communities, with a focus on enhancing their economic, social, and environmental resilience. Rural areas, which are often marginalized and resource-constrained, face numerous challenges in achieving long-term prosperity and sustainable development. This project recognizes the urgent need to address these challenges and empower rural communities to create self-reliant and environmentally-friendly livelihoods. The primary objective of this project is to identify and implement innovative approaches that can diversify and strengthen the income sources of rural households, while also promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. By adopting a holistic and participatory approach, the project will engage with rural communities to understand their unique needs, assets, and aspirations, and then co-create tailored solutions that can be effectively implemented and scaled up. One of the key components of the project is the exploration of sustainable agriculture and agroforestry practices. The project will work with farmers to introduce climate-smart farming techniques, such as integrated pest management, water-efficient irrigation systems, and the cultivation of drought-resistant crop varieties.
