This research study delves into the effects of colonial rule on indigenous cultures in Africa, focusing on a comparative analysis between British and French colonies. The study aims to explore the various dimensions through which colonialism influenced indigenous cultures, including social structures, traditions, languages, and identities. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents an in-depth literature review encompassing ten key themes related to the impacts of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Africa, drawing from a wide range of scholarly sources and historical accounts. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations. This chapter also explores the theoretical frameworks used to analyze the impacts of colonialism on indigenous cultures in British and French colonies in Africa. Chapter Four offers a comprehensive discussion of the research findings, presenting eight key themes identified through the analysis of data collected from primary and secondary sources.
