Through a comprehensive analysis of historical accounts, literature, and scholarly works, this research seeks to uncover the complexities of colonial influence on traditional customs, beliefs, languages, and social structures of indigenous communities. The study begins with an exploration of the historical background of colonialism in Africa, highlighting key events and processes that led to the subjugation of indigenous populations by European powers. It assesses the various forms of colonial rule, including direct and indirect governance, and their impact on indigenous cultures. The research identifies the problem statement as the need to understand how colonialism has reshaped indigenous identities and cultural practices in Africa.
