Colonialism has had a profound impact on indigenous cultures across the globe, including Nigeria. This research project aims to explore the multifaceted effects of colonialism on the indigenous cultures of Nigeria, with a focus on understanding how historical events and policies introduced by colonial powers have shaped the cultural landscape of the country. Through a comprehensive case study approach, this research delves into the specific ways in which colonialism has influenced various aspects of indigenous cultures in Nigeria, including language, religion, traditional practices, social structures, and identity formation. The study begins by providing an overview of the background of colonialism in Nigeria, tracing the historical context of colonization and the key events that have shaped the relationship between colonial powers and indigenous communities. It then presents a detailed examination of the specific problems that emerged as a result of colonial intervention in Nigeria, highlighting issues such as cultural appropriation, marginalization of indigenous practices, and the imposition of foreign systems of governance.
