This research project delves into the historical legacies of colonial rule and how they continue to influence political structures and processes in Africa today. The study examines the ways in which colonial powers imposed their governance systems, exploited resources, and altered social hierarchies, leaving a lasting imprint on the political landscape of the continent. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, offering a background of the study that highlights the historical context of colonialism in Africa. The chapter also presents the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms to guide the study. Chapter Two is a comprehensive literature review that critically analyzes existing scholarly works on the impact of colonialism on African political systems. The review explores various perspectives, theories, and empirical studies to provide a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures.
