This research study delves into the profound impact of colonialism on indigenous cultures, with a specific focus on Nigeria as a case study. The historical context of colonialism in Nigeria and its repercussions on the indigenous cultures will be analyzed comprehensively. The study aims to explore the multifaceted dimensions of colonial influence on the social, economic, political, and cultural aspects of Nigerian society, particularly among various indigenous groups. The research begins with a detailed examination of the colonial history of Nigeria, highlighting the key events and policies that shaped the colonial experience in the region. This historical background provides a foundation for understanding the subsequent impact on indigenous cultures, traditions, and identities. The legacy of colonial rule, including the imposition of foreign systems of governance, education, and religion, will be scrutinized to assess their lasting effects on indigenous communities. Through an extensive review of existing literature, the study will explore various scholarly perspectives on the repercussions of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Nigeria.
