Colonialism has had a profound impact on indigenous societies across the globe, particularly in Africa. This research project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the effects of British and French colonial rule on indigenous societies in Africa. The study will focus on exploring the historical background of colonialism in Africa, examining the specific policies and practices implemented by the British and French colonial powers, and analyzing the long-term consequences of colonial rule on indigenous societies. Chapter One provides the foundation for the research by introducing the topic, presenting the background of the study, stating the problem statement, outlining the objectives of the study, discussing the limitations and scope of the research, highlighting the significance of the study, structuring the research, and defining key terms. Chapter Two delves into a comprehensive literature review that examines existing scholarly works, theories, and perspectives on colonialism in Africa, British and French colonization methods, and the impact of colonialism on indigenous societies. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the research methodology. Chapter Four presents the findings of the comparative analysis of British and French colonial impacts on indigenous societies in Africa. This section discusses the economic, political, social, and cultural effects of colonial rule, as well as the resistance and adaptation strategies employed by indigenous populations.
