Chapter One provides an in-depth introduction to the research topic, setting the stage for the comparative study by outlining the background of colonialism in Africa and the Americas. The chapter also presents the problem statement, objectives of the study, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definitions of key terms to guide the reader through the research framework.
