Colonialism has had a profound impact on the development and structure of modern-day societies, particularly in Africa where European powers exerted significant influence. This research project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the British and French colonial legacies in Africa to explore how these historical processes continue to shape contemporary social, political, and economic landscapes on the continent. The study will focus on key aspects such as governance structures, legal systems, cultural influences, and economic relationships established during the colonial period. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definitions of terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that analyzes existing scholarly works on colonialism in Africa, highlighting the specific impacts of British and French colonial rule on the region. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research process.
