This research project investigates the profound impact of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Africa, focusing on a comparative analysis between Nigeria and South Africa. The study delves into the historical background of colonial rule in these two countries and explores how it has shaped and influenced the cultural landscapes of the indigenous populations. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research examines the various ways in which colonial policies, practices, and ideologies have affected indigenous cultures, traditions, languages, and identities. The research methodology employed in this study includes a combination of qualitative research methods such as archival analysis, document review, and comparative case studies. Data collection involves primary and secondary sources, including historical documents, academic research, and cultural artifacts. The analysis is guided by theoretical frameworks from postcolonial studies, cultural anthropology, and historical sociology.
