Project Abstract

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (UNNWAAPP) is a significant initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the region. This research project explores the beneficiaries' perception of the UNNWAAPP, focusing on their experiences, satisfaction levels, and recommendations for improvement. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys and interviews to gather comprehensive data. The findings of the research revealed that the beneficiaries generally had a positive perception of the UNNWAAPP. They expressed satisfaction with the program's impact on their agricultural practices, citing increased yields, improved crop quality, and enhanced knowledge as key benefits. The beneficiaries also appreciated the training and extension services provided through the program, which helped them adopt more efficient and sustainable farming techniques. Despite the overall positive perception, the study identified some areas for improvement. The beneficiaries highlighted the need for better access to agricultural inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers, and equipment, to further enhance productivity. They also emphasized the importance of ongoing training and support to sustain the benefits gained from the program. Additionally, the beneficiaries suggested the establishment of market linkages to improve their access to markets and ensure fair prices for their produce. In conclusion, the beneficiaries' perception of the UNNWAAPP was largely positive, with acknowledgment of the program's positive impact on their agricultural productivity. The findings of this research provide valuable insights for program managers and policymakers to enhance the effectiveness of agricultural productivity programs in the region. By addressing the identified areas for improvement, such as access to inputs, ongoing training, and market linkages, the UNNWAAPP can better support farmers and contribute to sustainable agricultural development in West Africa.
