Urbanization has led to significant changes in the environment, one of which is the phenomenon known as the urban heat island effect. This research project focuses on analyzing the urban heat island effect in a rapidly growing city to understand its impact on the local climate and environment. The study aims to investigate the spatial and temporal variations of urban heat islands in the city, identify the key factors contributing to the phenomenon, and assess its implications for urban planning and sustainable development. Chapter one provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of key terms. The subsequent chapter, chapter two, presents a comprehensive literature review comprising ten key items that discuss the urban heat island effect, its causes, effects, and mitigation strategies. The review incorporates findings from previous studies to provide a theoretical framework for the research. Chapter three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, data analysis techniques, and sampling procedures. The chapter also discusses the tools and software used for data analysis, ensuring the reliability and validity of the research findings. Chapter four presents a detailed discussion of the research findings, focusing on the spatial distribution of urban heat islands, the factors influencing their formation, and their implications for urban planning and environmental management. The research findings reveal significant variations in temperature within the city, with urban heat islands forming in densely built-up areas. Factors such as land cover, land use, building materials, and urban morphology are identified as key contributors to the urban heat island effect.
