Project Abstract

Abstract
Climate change is a pressing global issue that has far-reaching impacts on various aspects of the environment, including coastal erosion. Coastal erosion, the process by which coastal land is gradually worn away by natural forces such as waves and currents, is exacerbated by the effects of climate change, including sea-level rise, increased storm intensity, and changing precipitation patterns. Geographic Information System (GIS) technology has emerged as a valuable tool for studying and analyzing the complex interactions between climate change and coastal erosion. This research project aims to investigate the impact of climate change on coastal erosion using GIS technology. The study will focus on a specific coastal area prone to erosion, utilizing GIS tools to analyze historical erosion patterns, current environmental conditions, and projected future climate scenarios. By integrating spatial data on coastal features, climate variables, and erosion processes, the research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics driving coastal erosion in the face of climate change. Chapter 1 of the research will introduce the background of the study, present the problem statement, outline the objectives, discuss the limitations and scope of the study, highlight the significance of the research, provide the structure of the research, and define key terms. Chapter 2 will conduct a thorough literature review on ten key aspects related to climate change, coastal erosion, and GIS technology. Chapter 3 will detail the research methodology, including data collection methods, GIS analysis techniques, and modeling approaches, among others. In Chapter 4, the findings of the research will be extensively discussed, covering seven key aspects such as the impact of sea-level rise on coastal erosion, the role of storm events in erosion processes, and the effectiveness of GIS technology in predicting erosion risk. The chapter will also explore potential adaptation strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on coastal erosion. Finally, Chapter 5 will provide a comprehensive conclusion and summary of the research project, highlighting key findings, implications for coastal management and policy, and recommendations for future research. The research findings will contribute valuable insights into the dynamic relationship between climate change and coastal erosion, offering a scientific basis for informed decision-making and sustainable adaptation measures in vulnerable coastal regions.
