The rapid evolution of social media platforms has revolutionized communication and interaction among individuals across the world. However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential impact of social media on mental health, particularly in different age groups. This research project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the impact of social media on mental health across various age groups. The study begins with an exploration of the background of the topic, highlighting the increasing prevalence of social media use and its potential implications on mental well-being. The problem statement underscores the need to examine how social media influences mental health outcomes in diverse age cohorts. The research objectives are to identify the specific ways in which social media affects mental health, to compare these effects across different age groups, and to provide insights into potential strategies for mitigating any negative impact. The study acknowledges certain limitations, including the complexities of measuring mental health outcomes, the subjective nature of social media experiences, and the challenges of generalizing findings across diverse age groups. The scope of the research focuses on analyzing the impact of social media on mental health in adolescents, young adults, and older adults, considering factors such as usage patterns, content consumption, and psychological well-being. The significance of the study lies in its potential to enhance understanding of how social media influences mental health in distinct age groups, informing the development of targeted interventions and policies to promote positive mental well-being. The discussion of findings delves into the nuanced ways in which social media use influences mental health in adolescents, young adults, and older adults, highlighting potential differences and similarities across age cohorts.
